Freezer Space Needed?
Minimum of 5 cubic feet (small chest or refrigerator/freezer combo).
How Many Pounds of Beef is a Quarter Cow?
Organic cows yield around *110 lbs of beef (avg $12.50/lb).
Steakhouse cows yield around *120 lbs of beef (avg $8.33/lb).
*Final Order Total Weight will be greater than or equal to estimated yield, never less than.
**Bones are NOT included but can be added on when our representative calls you after your order is placed.
What Cuts Will I Receive?
Our Quarter Beef orders use "Standard Cuts" from the same lot to ensure each order receives the same variety and quantity of cuts. These consist of 20-25% Steaks, 25-35% Roasts, and 40-50% Ground Product (Ground Beef and/or Patties). You can get premium cuts such as Filet Mignon and T-Bones for as low as $7.50 a pound.
Since many cuts do not produce 4 per animal, these cuts may not exist in your Quarter order. We do our best to split these single items between the four quarters so all receive the same pounds of meat. Each animal differs, but our efforts to raise the best animal possible ensure you are going to get the best cuts possible.
*Offal (heart, liver, tongue, and oxtail) and Bones are NOT INCLUDED but can be purchased separately.
Can I Customize the Standard Cuts?
Unfortunately, we cannot customize cuts on the quarter beef orders. If you would like to customize, we recommend purchasing a half or whole cow.
When Will I Receive My Beef?
Up to 6-10 weeks because we don't process Quarter Beef orders until they are placed. Once your Quarter Beef has been reviewed and is ready, a representative from Prosper Meats will contact you to explain the expected timeline for delivery or pick-up of your order.
How is the Meat Packaged?
Every cut is flash-frozen, vacuum-sealed, and labeled for your convenience.
What is the difference between Grass Fed & Finished and Steakhouse Beef?
Organic Grass Fed & Finished Beef (Certified USDA Organic)
Certified USDA Organic cattle are raised on 100% Organic Grass from birth while grazing in open Colorado pastures, never in a feedlot. Very lean beef with little to no fat content. Always antibiotic and hormone-free.
Prosper Steakhouse Beef
Cattle are fed an optimized mixture of Prosper Farms Colorado Grown Hay, Natural Native Grass, Corn, and Distillers Spent Grain. Raised and marketed for high-end steakhouses, you can enjoy the same top-notch quality at home from Prosper Meats with our Prosper Steakhouse cuts. Always hormone-free.
